I’m doing the Walk for Him

My husband Steven was diagnosed with incurable, inoperable prostate cancer in late 2018. It's a diagnosis that changed everything in our lives, from how we think about life to what we do, where we go, how we work. The world becomes smaller and you get to know what the really important things are; family, health, friends and laughter.

Every day, 49 Aussie men are diagnosed with prostate cancer.

That’s why I’m doing PCFA’s Walk for Him, raising awareness and funds for men with prostate cancer.

By doing 49,000 steps during Men’s Health Week from Monday June 13 to Sunday June 19, I’ll be contributing to more research, more nurses, more advocacy, and much greater awareness.

I can’t do this without your help - please donate if you can and help me complete 49,000 steps in the Walk for Him.

My Updates

Smashed it!

Thursday 9th Jun
Okay, so I started real early at the beginning of May and I've had to take it slow but now I've smashed the 49000 steps over the past few days.
The reason my activity has been up is that we've been visiting our grandkids in Yass - one of whom we hadn't yet met. We hadn't seen them or our son Andrew and his fab wife Shayla for three years. It has been too long (damn you, Covid!), and really they, and our other family are my big why.
Steven deserves as much time as possible with us all, and us with him. Please consider donating to the Prostate Cancer Foundation to help kick this disease's backside into oblivion. You can give as little or as much as you like - it all helps. Just click onto my page and it's easy peasy.
In the meantime, hug your people, tell them you love them, and keep walking!

Getting back out there!

Tuesday 24th May
First proper walk today for a week - had a flare up of a medical condition that puts you on your backside for the best part of a week, but I'm back, baby, and up to more than 30,000 steps!
Had a stroll up the hill to see the local mob of kangaroos having their usual evening snack before continuing round the streets as the sun set an orange glow between the horizon and the cloud bank. Crispy autumn air, but rain and colder conditions are apparently on the way.
Thank you for all your donations - they've gone beyond my wildest dreams, and I am determined to complete these 49000 steps by 19 June - I won't let you down!

Over half way!

Sunday 15th May
27201 steps, $2225 raised.
You guys are amazing!

Hello, I've had a few quiet days on the walking front, with other things that I needed to get done.
I managed one walk this morning with Steven and the dogs, and went to go for another with my sister this afternoon, but it started raining! Oh well, nothing else for it but to retreat to the local hotel for a refreshing 'coffee'. You know, the sparkly kind that comes in piccolos :) .
Hope you all have a great week, and thanks again for your donations - they go straight to the Prostate Cancer Foundation to make sure our men are less likely in the future to be taken away by this awful disease.

Today's walk

Tuesday 10th May
It was a beautiful autumn day so I made sure I got some steps in at lunchtime and managed to hit just over the 5000 steps goal by 6pm!
Thanks to everyone who has contributed - we're now past the $2000 mark!

Day 1

Sunday 8th May
Okay, I quit just before 6 pm because my back was giving in, but pretty pleased at these juicy steps! Onwards!

Eeeek!

Saturday 7th May
I've barely got the page set up and published on social media and now the $500 fundraising goal has been passed already. I'd better get my shoes on and get walking!
Thanks so much everyone for your support I really appreciate it! x
