Men’s Health Week.
I’m taking strides to save men like my lovely Shane.
If you know me, you'll know about Shane – he's there in so much of what I say and do, and it's obvious that I'm besotted with the guy. So when in 2021 he was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer – aggressive, incurable, and inoperable – it felt like my world was crumbling.
But it didn't crumble. We soon learned that despite the fact that there wasn't a cure for him, there were treatment options, and this was thanks to important, ongoing research. It's because of this research that Shane is still with those of us who love him.
Chances are that this disease will touch you in some way too. Prostate cancer is Australia’s most commonly diagnosed cancer. 1 in 5 men are likely to be diagnosed in their lifetime.
So! That’s the preamble to why, this Men’s Health Week, I’m making every step count.
