I’m taking strides for Chap
One year ago, the 1st of June.
I did not know what to expect as I arrived in Lismore that day. As soon as I received the news, I knew I had to be by your side. But when I finally got there, you were all smiles (you always had the brightest smile) and you looked good. Healthy in fact. You were still your cheeky self, having fun and joking with the nurses, making everybody laugh, despite your pain. My heart was relieved.
Little did we know 5 days later our world would be completely shook. We received the news, Stage 4 :( Collectively, our hearts broke. We were told we'd have a couple of years. That was a lie. We didn't even get a couple of months.
Prostate cancer is Australia’s most commonly diagnosed cancer. 1 in 5 men are likely to be diagnosed in their lifetime.
That’s why, this Men’s Health Week, I’m making every step count. I'm walking for my dad, and so many other men and their families so nobody has to know the pain of losing their loved one to this insidious disease.
I understand money is tight for everyone these days, but even a buck or two would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will help fund new research to detect and defeat prostate cancer.
My hope is that nobody else has to know the pain of losing someone they love to cancer.
