Men’s Health Week.

Walking 21.5km every day for 7 days from 9th to 15th June 2025, as I recover from Prostate cancer surgery

At the start of this year I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer. I have since had an operation to remove my prostate. I am hopeful that my future will be positive due to an early diagnosis. I am now recovering and want to raise awareness of this cancer for every male. Go and get a blood test. It is that easy. It may save your life. I had no symptoms, maybe you do not either!

Prostate cancer is Australia’s most commonly diagnosed cancer. 1 in 5 men are likely to be diagnosed in their lifetime.

That’s why, this Men’s Health Week, I’m making every step count.

Will you donate today and help fund new research to detect and defeat prostate cancer?

My Updates

Day 7 walk final post

Sunday 15th Jun
Well that is it. All done. Thank you to everyone who joined me today. It has been an amazing experience. I have really enjoyed all the long walks and hope to carry them on. It has all helped with my recovery. The views have been amazing and the company even better. Who knows what next years challenge will be? Now to focus on getting the all clear and getting on with my life.
Thank you

Day 7 walk

Sunday 15th Jun
I DID IT!

Day 6 walk

Saturday 14th Jun
Mudjimba to Coolum today. Have a look athe photo's in gallery. What a day for walking. All the elements aligned. Dry, cool, clear sky, no wind, majestic sea and warming sun. But best of all, having my wife along for the walk. That was one of the best 22km's I have done this week, despite a couple of boring bits. Ready now for one more day of walking with possibly the best views to go as I head around Noosa headland.

Day 5 walk

Friday 13th Jun
Maroochydore to Mudjimba. Not the nicest of views today whilst walking but a lovely sunny day. Cold start around 5 Celsius but some becomes lovely. Joined by Hannah again and the dogs. Only 2 more days. Looking forward to the end but am really enjoying long walking.

Day 4 walk

Wednesday 11th Jun
Mooloolaba seafront today. What a great place to be walking. I think the dogs are over this walking thing but they don't complain. Over half way now. Noosa in a few days.

Day 3 walk

Wednesday 11th Jun
Awesome company this morning, the wife aka my rock. Very chilly start but so grateful to be able to do these walks. Thank you to early diagnosis and the medical world as a whole. 3 walks down, 4 more to go. Looking forward to it.

Day 2 walk

Tuesday 10th Jun
Another 22km's. Cold start but warmed up nicely. Working my way slowly up the coast. Just me today with a little company at the start from Hannah.

Day 1 walk

Monday 9th Jun
Today was the start of my walking over the next 7 days. Cold start but some good company. Did the first leg, a total of just over 22km's. See you tomorrow.

Itinerary for 7 days and maps. All walks start at 6.30am

Saturday 31st May
Look in gallery and you will see itinerary for the 7 days. 6 x return walks and last day one way. Also map for each day. All walks start at 6.30am. Please feel free to join me for any part of the walk if you would like

Training day 5

Wednesday 21st May
Big walk today, 19km. Even the dogs a tired, although not for long I am sure. What a great sunrise, makes you glad to be alive and out enjoying the day.

Training day 4

Tuesday 20th May
Walked 12.3km with dogs. Some of it on the beach. Beautiful morning. Glad to be alive and moving.

Training day 3

Friday 16th May
Walked 11.5km today. No rain, woohoo. Good amount of beach to walk on, so dogs happy. Only a couple of sores on my feet and pelvic floor muscles held up.
Wise words for today. If you see mountains all around you, the only way over them is to start climbing and put one foot in front of the other.

Training day 2

Wednesday 14th May
Well a wet walk this morning. However managed 13.5km. Slightly sore in the hip department, so going to have to do some stretching to make sure these legs get me through the 7 days of walking.
Dogs were happy and look like they have only just finished their warm up.

Training starts

Saturday 10th May
Training this morning was a 5km walk along the beach and back along the coastal path. Weather not very helpful but at least no chance of sun stroke. Those pelvic floor muscles of mine are getting a good workout.
Quote of the day comes from Nedd Brockmann's dad. Nedd is the guy that ran across Australia. He said "the only way to get through something, is to put one foot in front of the other."
